Obi hails Anthony Joshua, Usman Kamaru despite their defeat last weekend

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has congratulated Anthony Joshua and Usman Kamaru who lost their fights to their opponents last weekend.

News Band reports how Anthony Joshua, suffered another defeat in the hands of Ukrainian champion, Oleksandr Usyk who retained his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles after defeating Nigerian-British born (Joshua) boxer through split decision.

While Usman Kamaru lost his UFC welterweight belt to Leon Edward through technical knockout in the 5 round of their bout.

However, Peter Obi in a statement, has hailed the duo for putting up what he described as a brave fight against their opponents.

The former Anambra State governor, also praised their spirit of courage, resilience and strength they manifested during the bout.

He said, “I congratulate our own Anthony Joshua and Kamaru Usman MMA for putting up such a brave fight against Oleksandr Usyk and Leon Edwards. Your spirit of courage, resilience and strength manifested in you throughout the match.

“The aim is not to win every battle, but to go all in and give in your very best. You gave your best dear Anthony and Kamaru, we celebrate you people always.

“I wish you more resounding success in your future engagements.”
