Ogun State Government approved reconstructing 11 roads across three senatorial districts to boost connectivity.
Governor Abiodun announced this during a weekend State Executive Council meeting.
The Akute Bridge-Agbado Train Terminal stretch (9.2km) will include lay-bys and adjoining roads. Meanwhile, the Iperu Junction-Ilishan Roundabout (5.5km) aims to enhance airport access.
Additionally, Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro Road’s Phases 2B (4km) and 2A (3km) will undergo upgrades. Gao Junction-Ibiade Road (3.8km) reconstruction also received approval.
Other approved roads include Abeokuta Obalende-Ijebu Ode (2.75km) and Federal College Road (2.93km). Ipokia’s General Hospital-Aferiku (2.8km) and Oke Erinja-Ilobi (1.7km) will be rebuilt.
Governor Abiodun stressed the projects’ importance during Oke Erinja Road’s commissioning. He vowed to extend construction to Ilobi, uniting the “Siamese twin” communities.
“We’ll complete the road to Ilobi,” he pledged. Furthermore, Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road’s 17km reconstruction contract will be awarded within a week.
This critical artery links Ogun West, Central, and Lagos. Abiodun noted ongoing work on Akute-Ajuwon and Alagbole-Akute roads complements the broader infrastructure plan.
Recently, the state prioritized Ifo Local Government due to high Lagos-bound commuter traffic. The governor assured border communities remain integral to development efforts.
Lastly, Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing road networks, fostering economic growth, and improving residents’ quality of life.
