One killed as Davido’s security, thugs clash at palace

One person has reportedly been killed following a clash between suspected political thugs and the security details of Afrobeats star Davido during Governor Ademola Adeleke’s visit to the Ataoja of Osogbo’s palace.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in Osogbo, Osun State, after Davido and his uncle, Governor Adeleke, visited the monarch.

According to the police, trouble started when a suspected political thug, Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged,” allegedly attempted to gain access to Davido but was resisted by the singer’s security personnel.

The police said the confrontation attracted members of Taoreed’s alleged cult group, leading to an exchange of gunfire and temporarily blocking the palace entrance.

The governor’s security team reportedly used tear gas and fired into the air to disperse the attackers, allowing the convoy to leave the palace safely.

Davido later said on X that the fight occurred outside the palace and had nothing to do with him.

The suspected thugs reportedly fled towards the Ayepe area, where they allegedly shot 60-year-old Tajudeen Yusuf at Ita-Olokan.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the shooting and said an investigation had commenced. Police authorities also said efforts were underway to apprehend the suspected perpetrators.
