Open Letter To IGP Egbetokun On His Macabre Dance

Published

on

Dear IGP Egbetokun,

Your recent antics in the recruitment process of police constables have left many bewildered and concerned.

It is time to end the charade and respect the constitution and the Supreme Court’s judgment.

Allow the shortlisted candidates to proceed with their training, and cease your attempts to usurp the powers of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Your baseless allegations of deaf, dumb, and crippled candidates being shortlisted have been exposed for what they are – a desperate attempt to justify your meddling. Produce the names of these individuals, or retract your claims and apologize for the embarrassment.

The PSC is constitutionally empowered to oversee police recruitment, and it is their duty to ensure a merit-based and transparent process.

Let them perform their duties without your interference. Your actions are a brazen disregard for the rule of law and the institutions that uphold it.

The nation demands a professional and impartial police force, not a force beholden to the whims of an individual.

Beware otherwise posterity shall be judge you.

Respect the constitution, respect the Supreme Court’s judgment, and respect the people’s trust in the police force.

Sincerely,
Yusuf Ali

Lagos, Nigeria.
