Operation Lafiya Dole: Nigerian Army decimates Bokoharam terrorists in a fierce airstrikes

As part of it’s effort to dislodge and neutralise Bokoharam terrorists, the Nigerian army under Operation Dole Lafiya attacked and obliterated Bokoharam fighters that attempted to overrun their base in a fierce airstrikes.

Bokoharam terrorists have had a hard time understanding that the jig is up. After losing hundreds of fighters in recent weeks, some Bokoharam commanders figured it was a good idea to attack an army base. A military source said the attack underscored the illusion of Bokoharam commanders.

Bokoharam insurgents launched attack in the base in their classic style. Dozens of fighters attacked from four points simultaneously, firing mortars and RPGs, hoping to overwhelm the defenders and overrun the base.

This was the same tactics used in their attack on the Gudun Bali base last Friday. The Nigerian army blatantly refused to fall for the trick again.

In a neatly planned operation, the Nigerian army allowed the insurgents to close in on the base before engaging. Moreover, call for aerial support was delayed to give the attackers a false sense of security.

Nigerian troops reinforced the base with orders not to fire their weapons and reveal their position. It must have felt too easy because the wary insurgents attempted to set up a defensive perimeter in a village called Arkuma but changed their mind.

It turns out that the insurgents had been firing on mostly empty structure all along. Nigerian troops opened fire from well concealed positions up close, making their RPGs useless. In their confusion the insurgents attempted to fight their way out from the ambush but were picked apart.

At 6pm seeing the battle was lost, the insurgents attempted to salvage defeat by attacking the village of arkuma. They mounted on 15 trucks and and approached the village from different directions simultaneously to wreak havoc.

However, this was when helicopter gunships swooped low and made minced meat of the convoy. Many of them who survived the strike and ran towards the village on foot were cut down by snipers.
