Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Sule being laid to rest
Statement Attributable to Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, on the Passing of HE Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Sule
I join my fellow Nigerians and internationalists in mourning the passing of HE Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Sule, Dan Masanin Kano, who died on Monday July 3, 2017.
A proactive nationalist, politician and diplomat, he served as a federal minister at different times and as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, led the international campaign against apartheid.
Ambassador Maitama Sule, was a detribalized Nigerian, who spoke with vigor against any form of injustice, and had a personal charm and warmth that was simply endearing.
It was a personal privilege to have known him. He will be sorely missed.
May the Almighty grant him rest.
