Osun Gov’t extends 24-hour curfew to Erin-Osun amid escalating communal dispute

The Osun State Government has extended a 24-hour curfew to Erin-Osun town following escalating clashes between Ilobu and Ifon communities.

Governor Adeleke voiced concern over escalating hostilities and stressed safeguarding lives.

“The Governor regrets the clashes’ escalation,” the announcement declared.

Consequently, Erin-Osun now faces immediate 24-hour restrictions until stability returns.

Additionally, Governor Adeleke mobilized a joint security task force—including the Army, Police, Immigration, NSCDC, NDLEA, and AMOTEKUN—to intensify surveillance. These agencies must enforce curfew compliance and maintain 24-hour patrols.

Meanwhile, the Governor condoled families who lost loved ones or properties. He vowed to prosecute perpetrators, asserting, “Violence instigators will face the law’s full wrath.”

Furthermore, Adeleke urged residents to embrace Omoluabi values: respect, unity, and harmony. “Osun’s legacy of peace must not crumble,” he insisted.

The government also implored community leaders and stakeholders to cooperate with security forces. Mediation efforts are underway to resolve the conflict’s root causes.
