The political rift between Osun PDP and APC has escalated following recent accusations and counterclaims.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Senator Ajibola Basiru accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of sacking thousands of public workers after assuming office.

In response, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, denied the allegation during a press statement.

Rasheed insisted that no legitimate teachers or health workers were disengaged by the current administration.

He alleged that the former APC government unlawfully employed party loyalists shortly before leaving office.

Rasheed described the last-minute employment as a plot to destabilise Adeleke’s government.

He maintained that those disengaged were never officially recognised as Osun State civil servants.

The spokesperson highlighted achievements in water, agriculture, digital economy, and infrastructure under Governor Adeleke.

According to him, a three-phase water agenda is being implemented simultaneously across the state.

He revealed that 31 tractors were deployed under the first phase of the farm mechanisation programme.

He added that cocoa and cashew expansion initiatives were launched to boost agricultural productivity.

Rasheed said Adeleke introduced Osun’s first ICT and Tech Innovation policies to drive digital development.

He dismissed the opposition’s claims about infrastructure failures, calling them fabricated lies to discredit progress.

He mentioned the Osogbo stadium upgrade and free Medicare for over 30,000 pensioners as notable achievements.

Rasheed questioned the basis of Basiru’s criticisms, citing Adeleke’s road construction near Basiru’s residence as an example.

Meanwhile, PDP Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi echoed Rasheed’s position and condemned Basiru’s remarks.

He labelled the APC’s last-minute employment exercise as illegal and politically motivated.

Bisi described Basiru’s criticisms as “crocodile tears from a sore loser.”

He accused the former APC government of neglecting workers and failing to conduct staff promotions.

Bisi urged citizens to remember the over 30 months of unpaid salaries under the previous government.

He said Adeleke is addressing employment needs lawfully and transparently.

In a counterattack, Basiru insisted Adeleke’s government had failed across key sectors.

He claimed the administration’s 40% debt reduction ignored the massive increase in federal allocation.

Basiru argued that the financial improvement resulted from increased oil receipts, not strategic planning.

He challenged Adeleke to explain why the 5,000 dismissed teachers have not been reabsorbed.

Basiru also criticised road projects he claimed collapsed within days of completion.

He condemned the reported failure of solar lights and the absence of promised borehole projects.

Basiru cited poor planning at the Oke Fia flyover, which he said obstructed truck passage.

He claimed Osun lacks clear policies on agriculture, sanitation, and market expansion.

Basiru accused Adeleke’s aides of resorting to insults instead of addressing criticisms with facts.

He stated that governance should be based on transparency and accountability, not showmanship or media stunts.
