Otse: Nigerians express skepticism over VDM’s ₦180 million NGO theft claim

Nigerians have expressed skepticism over Martins Otse, widely known as VDM’s claim that ₦180 million was stolen from his NGO account due to a hacking incident.
As gathered by the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the allegation has sparked widespread skepticism across social media platforms.
Otse in an Instagram video posted on Friday, asserted that ₦180 million had been transferred to an unknown account, leaving only ₦20 million in his NGO’s account.
However, his explanation has raised numerous questions regarding its authenticity.

Many users have taken to their social media to express doubts.
Dr. J, tweeting under the handle #truebenny001, questioned the nature of the theft, asking, “Was the money on the website or the bank?”
User Mas Dinero, under the handle #Mas_Dinero_, voiced skepticism, saying, “₦180 million don vanish just like that?
“Omo, hackers or no hackers, na who get mind dey this NGO? Because this story no clear o.”
He Sai’d that if such a large sum could disappear so easily, it raises serious questions about the management of the NGO’s finances.
Another user, Basito, known as #Itzbasito, commented on the situation, stating, “VeryDarkMan said ₦180m is missing from the ₦200m donation for his NGO.
“See scope o, like say we be primary school students.”
Mikay, using the handle #stephen_mikay, added to the critique, stating, “Lol. It is not possible! Banks set limits to certain transactions.
“₦180m cannot go out of a bank account at once without verbal confirmation from the signatories!”
Star Girl, tweeting as #lil_maamiiii, remarked, “If it were someone else sharing this VeryDarkMan story, by now he would have set his ring light, with his dirty sachet water and black singlet, analysing God knows what.”
Adding a humorous touch to the discourse, an anonymous user known as #BRILLIANT_ARIN tweeted, “VeryDarkMan said they hacked and stole ₦180m from his NGO website lmao.
“That’s a familiar method: set camera, blow up, then begin to use a foolish scope for the fools who are their stan/audience.
Vincent further noted, “Now you see why cybersecurity is in high demand all over the world.
“It’s to prevent issues like this from happening.
“It’s a very valuable skill to learn in 2025.”
As the controversy unfolds, netizens continue to demand clarity from Otse regarding the alleged theft.
Many remain skeptical of Otse’s claims, questioning the veracity of his account and the circumstances surrounding the supposed hacking incident.
