Oyebanji 2026: “I won’t sleep over reelection,” Ekiti Gov.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has addressed the messages sent to him by politicians, who expressed worries over his reelection in 2026.

Oyebanji, while speaking in Ado Ekiti on Friday night at the monthly Evening of Praise and Worship at the Jibowu Hall, Government House Ground, stated that “I won’t sleep over my reelection.”

As gathered by the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Oyebanji, who stressed that he would not lose sleep over the election said he has no worries ahead the 2026 governorship election in the state.

However, the governor urged politicians to sending such messages.

Oyebanji said, “I am committed to good governance and fulfilling my electoral promises.”

Stating further, the governor stated “I believe that God’s plan supercedes human agendas.”

“I will not lose sleep over the development as God is in control.”

“My political future is in the hands of God who has never failed me,” Oyebanji said.

“What is not given to man by God, no one can give.”

“I am just saying this so that you can stop sending me text messages expressing worries about 2026 election.″

Oyebanji expressed confidence in God’s ability to work out things in his favour, stating, “God who did it for him in 2022, would surely do it again in 2026.”

The governor emphasizing his achievements across all sectors in the state, acknowledged God’s divine intervention as the source of the success.

“My goal remains on delivering good governance and making sure I fulfil my promises to the people of Ekiti.”

“God is in charge of everything including 2026 election that many people are worried about.”

“Let us focus on the work God has given us to do and let us do it well.”

“I have received criticisms from people, telling me that I am not a politician and I don’t know what politics is.”

“I am not concerned about this, because I serve a God of peace, nothing is going to stop my peace.”

Who is Oyebanji?

Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji is a Nigerian politician who has been serving as the Governor of Ekiti State since October 2022.

He was born on December 21, 1967, in Ikogosi-Ekiti. He has had a distinguished career in politics and public service.

Early life and education of Oyebanji

Oyebanji attended Baptist Primary School, Ikogosi-Ekiti, and later transferred to C.A.C. Grammar School, Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) in 1989.

The governor also holds a Master’s degree in Political Science (International Relations and Strategic Studies) from the University of Ibadan.

Oyebanji’s Career

Biodun started his professional career as a lecturer at the Department of Political Science, University of Ado Ekiti.

He later worked as Manager, Treasury, and Financial Services at the defunct Omega Bank Plc (now Heritage Bank) till May 1999.

Oyebanji is also engaged in agribusiness and he is the chairman of Con Dois Farms Ltd.

Politics

The Ekiti Governor has held various positions in government, including Special Assistant (Parliamentary Affairs) to the Governor of Ekiti State, Secretary to the State Government, and Chief of Staff to the Governor.

He was elected as the Governor of Ekiti State in the 2022 gubernatorial election, defeating candidates from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Awards and Recognition

The agro-business expert has received several awards, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Alumni Association of the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, and the Certificate of Excellence awarded by the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti.
