PDP warns Tinubu: Two years left to deliver

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to shift focus toward improving the living conditions of Nigerians in the remaining two years of his administration.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the opposition party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this appeal in a statement released to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Ologunagba emphasised that President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) must embrace the fear of God and halt what the PDP described as exploitative, dishonest, and wasteful governance.

The PDP congratulated Muslims and all Nigerians for witnessing the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to remain steadfast in their faith in God despite the severe economic, security, and social challenges plaguing the country.

The party lamented the pervasive insecurity across Nigeria, describing the nation as a “large killing field” where innocent citizens have been abandoned to the mercy of terrorists, bandits, and armed criminals.

The PDP also criticised the current economic hardship, blaming the suffering on what it called reckless mismanagement of national resources by the Tinubu-led APC government.

The statement read, “Our nation is in agony. The cost of living is unbearable, insecurity is rising, and the economy is on life support. These are consequences of APC’s failed leadership.”

The PDP challenged the federal government to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir as a turning point to adopt policies that would positively affect the economy and improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

According to the opposition, a revamp of the productive sector is urgently required. It called for immediate steps to reduce fuel prices, electricity tariffs, and other essential service charges.

The PDP also criticised the federal government’s borrowing patterns, stating that the mounting debt has no visible impact on national development or the well-being of Nigerians.

The statement added, “There is an urgent need to halt reckless borrowing. Loans are being obtained without clear plans or visible developmental outcomes. Nigerians deserve accountability.”

The PDP further accused the APC-led government of shielding corrupt party leaders involved in fraudulent oil deals and the looting of public funds.

It urged President Tinubu to recover over ₦30 trillion allegedly stolen by key APC figures, and to invest those funds in infrastructure, economic recovery, and national security.

“This administration must recover looted funds and redirect them into meaningful development,” the PDP insisted.

The opposition party stated that the Eid-el-Kabir should remind leaders of the values of sacrifice, honesty, and submission to God’s will, and challenged Tinubu to realign his leadership approach accordingly.

It advised the president to adopt a people-centred style of governance as taught by the spiritual significance of the Eid celebration.

“President Tinubu still has two years to redeem his image. He must now act in the interest of Nigerians,” the statement said.

The PDP also encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of hardship, and to continue to show love and support to one another during these difficult times.

It appealed to citizens to remain patriotic and prayerful, assuring them that divine intervention is still possible.
