Amid rising concerns about corruption and trust in Nigeria’s political class, former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, continues to stand out as a rare symbol of integrity and public accountability.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) has observed a fresh wave of support across social media platforms, where thousands of ‘Obidients’, as his followers are fondly called, are celebrating his impeccable record.

The trending message online claims that, whether acknowledged or not, Peter Obi remains the most diligent, incorruptible, and credible political figure in the country.

Supporters point to his unmatched public image and legal record. Mr. Obi has no known case with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), or even the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

He has never been linked to any cases of certificate forgery, identity theft, money laundering, age falsification, or educational fraud.

He is also free from any known community conflict or human rights abuse.

Notably, he is the only former governor in Nigeria who does not collect a pension from his state, having publicly declined the benefit since leaving office in 2014.

Mr. Obi’s time as governor was marked by fiscal discipline, investment in public services, and a notable absence of the usual political excesses.

Unlike many of his counterparts, there are no reports tying him to drug-related cases, either domestically or internationally, nor any allegations of using executive power for personal gain or illegal demolitions.

In a country where most political actors are tainted by scandal, Obi’s clean slate has triggered renewed public debate. Nigerians online are now asking: If a man this clean exists in the system, why isn’t the entire country rallying behind him?

The question has sparked fresh conversations about the values Nigerian voters prioritize when electing leaders. As the nation prepares for future elections, the growing chorus is clear: integrity must no longer be ignored.
