Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has linked insecurity in northern Nigeria to widespread poverty.

He made this statement on Friday while visiting the Muslim community in Awka, Anambra State.

During the visit, he participated in the Ramadan fast-breaking ceremony with the Muslim faithful.

Obi emphasized the need to reposition Nigeria as a progressive and prosperous nation.

He called for significant investments in education and youth empowerment to tackle poverty.

Addressing the congregation at the mosque, Obi stated that poverty fuels crime in the North.

“To solve this, we must eradicate poverty and invest heavily in education,” he said.

He stressed that Nigerians, regardless of religion, desire a better life.

“There is no separate price for bread based on faith,” he added.

He emphasized that citizens should be able to live peacefully anywhere in the country.

Obi expressed his commitment to supporting the Muslim community in Anambra.

He pledged to contribute to rebuilding a primary school within the mosque premises.

The leader of the Hausa community, Gidado Siddiki, welcomed Obi’s visit.

Siddiki also serves as the National Deputy Director General of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

He acknowledged Obi’s longstanding commitment to fostering unity and supporting the Muslim community.

“Every year, you prioritize breaking the fast with us,” Siddiki said.

He praised Obi for sharing meals and bringing gifts during Ramadan.

“You have done this in Onitsha and Awka consistently,” he noted.

Siddiki also highlighted Obi’s contributions beyond Ramadan events.

“You have supported our community in various ways,” he added.

Obi has helped renovate mosques and funded Hajj pilgrimages for some members.

He prayed for Obi’s success in his future political aspirations.

Obi’s visit comes at a time when Nigeria faces increasing security challenges.

The North continues to struggle with poverty and unemployment, fueling criminal activities.

His message underscored the need for education and economic empowerment.

He emphasized that sustainable solutions should go beyond military interventions.

Obi’s advocacy for unity reflects his broader vision for a better Nigeria.

He continues to engage with different communities to promote peace and development.

Many see his actions as a demonstration of inclusive leadership.

He remains committed to supporting initiatives that bridge religious and ethnic divides.

His consistent outreach has strengthened relationships across different groups in Nigeria.

The Muslim community in Anambra appreciates his contributions to their welfare.

They recognize his efforts in promoting interfaith harmony and mutual respect.

Obi’s message resonates with Nigerians seeking long-term solutions to insecurity.

His call for economic empowerment aligns with global strategies for reducing crime.

He believes that investing in education will create a more secure society.

For him, tackling poverty is key to restoring peace in Nigeria.

His engagement with the Muslim community reinforces his commitment to national unity.

Many hope his ideas will influence policies that address Nigeria’s security challenges.
