ABUJA, NIGERIA — Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is scheduled to host a global digital town hall on Sunday as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election.

The virtual event, titled “A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall,” is expected to bring together Nigerians in the country and abroad for a discussion on the political direction of the opposition movement and preparations for the next presidential election.
The town hall is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. West Africa Time on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Obi Addresses Concerns Over 2027
Ahead of the meeting, Obi acknowledged concerns among Nigerians about the protection of votes and the strategy opposition groups intend to adopt in the 2027 election.
According to the announcement, Obi considers the concerns important and intends to use the virtual gathering to respond to questions while also receiving suggestions from participants.
Electoral participation is expected to be one of the central issues during the discussion, with particular attention likely to focus on how citizens can participate effectively in the electoral process and protect their votes.
Nigerians Invited To Participate
The digital format is expected to allow Nigerians from different parts of the country, as well as those living outside Nigeria, to participate in the conversation.
Participants are expected to contribute ideas and perspectives on the political process and discuss possible approaches to voter mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The organisers have encouraged interested Nigerians to register ahead of the event.
Opposition Strategy In Focus
The town hall comes at a time when opposition parties and political groups are increasingly positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 election.
Obi has emphasised that the movement surrounding his political activities is driven by Nigerians, making public participation and contributions an important component of its future direction.
The event is therefore expected to provide an opportunity for Obi to explain his views on the opposition’s political strategy and respond to concerns from supporters and other Nigerians.
Electoral Integrity Remains Key Issue
Questions surrounding electoral integrity are expected to feature prominently in the discussion.
The protection of votes has remained a recurring issue in Nigeria’s political debate, particularly as political parties begin preparations for the next general election.
Obi’s planned engagement is also expected to address voter mobilisation and the role citizens can play in ensuring that their votes are properly cast and counted.
The virtual meeting could consequently serve as a platform for the NDC candidate to hear directly from Nigerians while outlining his position on the political process.
2027 Political Activity Intensifies
With the 2027 presidential election becoming an increasingly prominent subject of national political discourse, political parties and candidates are stepping up their engagements with voters.
Obi’s planned global town hall adds another dimension to that engagement by using a digital platform to connect with Nigerians inside and outside the country.
The focus of Sunday’s meeting will be how the NDC candidate responds to concerns over electoral participation, vote protection and the broader opposition strategy ahead of the 2027 contest.
