Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and former presidential aide Reno Omokri were seen exchanging pleasantries at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in a video shared online on Sunday.

In the clip, Omokri approached Obi and greeted him warmly, saying, “Mr Obi, how are you? Good to see you,” before both men shook hands briefly.

Sharing the video on his X account, Omokri wrote: “Peter Obi and I exchanging warm greetings today at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in anticipation of President Tinubu’s reelection next year!”

The encounter comes just days after Omokri publicly criticised Obi over his political moves and comments surrounding the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Omokri had recently reacted to Obi’s decision to leave the African Democratic Congress, describing it as part of what he called a recurring pattern in Obi’s political journey.

Obi had earlier announced his exit from the ADC, citing internal disputes and leadership challenges within the party.

Responding at the time, Omokri argued that political parties Obi joined often became unstable after his arrival.

“Every party Peter Obi has been in has been relatively crisis-free until he joined,” Omokri claimed, adding that repeated political disagreements around Obi could no longer be dismissed as coincidence.

He also questioned Obi’s credibility over promises to remain loyal to political parties, accusing the former Anambra governor of repeatedly leaving parties after making commitments to stay.

Omokri further urged Northern Nigerians to carefully assess their political choices ahead of the 2027 presidential election, arguing that President Bola Tinubu remained a more predictable option because constitutional limits would prevent him from serving beyond another term.

Despite the recent political criticism, the airport meeting appeared cordial, with both men exchanging greetings calmly before going their separate ways.
