PHOTO: Shettima visits El-Rufai, offers prayers for late mother

Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, on Monday, visited Nasir El-Rufai’s Abuja residence to offer condolences to the former governor and his family on the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

The visit was announced by Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkowcha, on his official X handle.

The late matriarch died in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness due to old age.

Stanley Nkwocha in the post said: “Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the Abuja residence of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to personally offer his condolences following the passing of the former governor’s mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai. Hajiya Umma passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness at an advanced age.”

During the visit, Vice President Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength to her family.

He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant the El-Rufai family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Hajiya Umma’s burial rites were conducted on Sunday at the National Mosque, and her body was laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.
