JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has arrived in Israel as part of an international advocacy campaign over killings and insecurity affecting communities in Plateau and other parts of Nigeria.

Dachomo arrived in Israel on Friday, October 2, 2026, according to details he shared publicly. He said he intends to use the visit to draw international attention to attacks on Christian communities and the wider security situation in Nigeria.

The cleric also said he hopes to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and present his account of the violence in Plateau State.

Dachomo Seeks Meeting With Netanyahu

Dachomo said his planned visit to Israel would include engagements with Christian leaders, preachers and prayer groups from different countries.

He described the trip as his first international Christian advocacy tour and said his objective was to ensure that the security challenges confronting communities in Plateau and other parts of Nigeria receive attention beyond the country.

“By the mercy of God, I will be addressing the world in Israel,” he announced.

The cleric said he expected to meet prayer groups and Christian leaders from countries including the United States, Canada, France, Spain and China.

It remains unclear whether Netanyahu will grant Dachomo a private meeting.

Cleric Highlights Plateau Attacks

Dachomo has become one of the prominent voices speaking about violence affecting communities in Plateau State.

He has attended burial ceremonies for victims of attacks and repeatedly called for greater attention to the security situation.

During his latest trip, he said he intended to present what he described as the suffering of Christians in Nigeria to Netanyahu if the two eventually meet.

He also said his prayers would extend beyond Christians, noting that Muslims affected by violence in northern states should also be remembered.

Dachomo mentioned victims in Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Katsina and said he wanted to pray for Nigerians affected by insecurity regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

Criticism Of Nigerian Government

The cleric also criticised the Nigerian government over what he described as insufficient attention to attacks against Christians.

He contrasted the government’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with what he sees as its response to violence in Nigeria.

Dachomo made several strongly worded religious and political statements during his remarks, including references to what he described as persecution and attacks by Fulani militants.

These are Dachomo’s characterisations of the security crisis and the groups he blames for attacks. They should not be taken as independent findings establishing responsibility for every incident in Plateau or elsewhere.

He nevertheless said he would pray for all Nigerians, including people he identified as perpetrators of violence.

Family Members Killed In Plateau

Dachomo’s advocacy has also been shaped by attacks involving members of his extended family.

In July, nine members of his extended family were reportedly killed in an attack in Kum community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. A two-month-old baby was among those reported killed.

The United States subsequently condemned the killings and called for those responsible to be held accountable.

Dachomo later said he had received threats following his outspoken criticism of insecurity in the state.

Cleric Declines Asylum Offers

Earlier in 2026, Dachomo disclosed that he had received asylum offers from countries including Australia and Austria.

He said he chose to remain in Nigeria and continue speaking about the situation affecting communities in Plateau.

His decision to travel to Israel therefore forms part of a broader campaign that has increasingly taken his concerns beyond Nigeria’s borders.

International Attention On Plateau

The security situation in Plateau has attracted growing international attention as attacks have continued to affect communities in the state.

Reports of violence in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and other areas have contributed to concerns about the protection of civilians and the safety of vulnerable communities.

Dachomo’s visit comes amid those concerns, with the cleric seeking to use his engagements with international Christian groups to highlight the experiences of affected communities.

He said he would also pray for the release of detained Nigerians and for peace across the country.

For now, the outcome of his proposed engagement with Netanyahu remains uncertain. However, Dachomo’s arrival in Israel represents an effort by the Plateau cleric to internationalise his campaign over insecurity and the protection of affected communities in Nigeria.
