National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Sunday, visited headquarters of Operation Safe Haven in the Plateau State.

He said the federal government had begun to address the security breaches in some communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of the State in which over 50 people were killed by terrorists.

Ribadu, who told stakeholders at a meeting that he was in Plateau following the directive of President Bola Tinubu to restore normalcy to communities recently attacked by terrorists, “commended security agencies for their timely response in curtailing the situation.”

During his engagement with the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Abdulsalami Folusho Oyinlola, Ribadu stressed that the Federal Government is taking decisive action in response to the deadly assaults carried out by suspected militias.

“The Federal Government is addressing the recent security breach in some communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State,” he stated, affirming that his visit followed a direct mandate from President Bola Tinubu to help restore peace in the troubled region.

In a statement issued by Major Samson Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, the NSA urged residents of Plateau to embrace peaceful coexistence and unity.

He also called on journalists to report security-related developments with responsibility and accuracy.

“He appealed to the media to ensure due diligence and transparency while reporting sensitive incidents, especially as it concerns security,” the statement read.

While assuring the public of continued efforts to improve security, Ribadu promised that those apprehended in connection with the attacks will face the full weight of the law.
