The Ogun State Police Command has, on Friday, arrested singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, following the expiration of a 72-hour ultimatum given to him to turn himself in after he failed to honour police invitations over alleged assault.
The Zazu crooner was invited following a petition by a studio owner who claimed that Portable together with his aides beat him and locked his studio.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest in a statement, adding that the controversial singer is detained at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran in Abeokuta.
Two viral videos had shown Portable attacking police officers at his Odogu bar in Sango Ota, Ogun State, in apparent show of misconduct.
Reacting, the spokesperson of the Force Headquarters in Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the singer’s action was unruly and his act punishable under the law.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oyeyemi, warned the singer to turn himself in at any police station in the state within 72 hours, or risk arrest.
The police moved to arrest Portable after five invites were sent to him, one of them through his father, which he ignored.
