Police in Edo State has arrested a suspect identified as Orji Okoro over alleged sexual assault on a 12-year-old male apprentice.
Parading the suspect, alongside other suspected criminals, the state commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, said the suspect was arrested on August 13, 2026.
He said the police received a report of unnatural offence where a 12-year-old male apprentice was allegedly sexually assaulted by one Orji Okoro at the suspect’s residence
He said the suspect was subsequently arrested while investigation is currently ongoing on the matter.
He assured that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
The suspect in an interview with journalists blamed alcohol for the crime.
“I defiled a young boy, I was drunk when the incident happened. Alcohol pushed me commit the crime.
“I am a family man; it was the devil that pushed him to commit the crime.”
He said he was arrested after his victim reported the incident to his master, who also reported the matter to the police
The Commissioner assured that the suspect would be charged to court.
