The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi over his viral remarks directing supporters to “kill” members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, has been asked to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo at 11am on Wednesday, August 12, to clarify the circumstances surrounding the comments.
The invitation followed widespread outrage after a video circulated online showing the senator speaking in Yoruba during an APC campaign in Ilesa.
Fadahunsi’s team has since denied that the senator was calling for violence, insisting that his comments were political and meant to urge supporters to defeat the Accord Party through their votes.
The police said the remarks were considered threatening, inciting and intimidating and had circulated widely across social media platforms.
