The Nigeria Police Force in Rivers State has confirmed the arrest of a Superintendent of Police, identified only as Emmanuel, attached to the Bori Police Area Command in the Khana Local Council of the state.

The officer was detained at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

According to a relative of the survivor named Love, the adolescent went out on Friday, January 12, but did not return that day.

When she returned the next morning, Love probed, and the girl admitted that she had been imprisoned and defiled by the police officer in his office at Bori Area Command until dawn.

The teenager claimed the police officer threatened to shoot her if she raised the alarm.

Love reported the incident to the Bori Police Division, and the girl identified the culprit.

The investigating police officer (IPO) then took the survivor to the hospital, where a medical check revealed that her hymen was ruptured, and injuries were found in her private parts.

The Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, ordered the arrest of the Superintendent of Police, and he is currently detained at the SCIID in Port Harcourt.

The police are conducting further investigations into the alleged defilement.
