Police Takes To Court To Vacate APGA Court Judgment On Agbaso

Published

The Nigerian Police has moved to court to vacate the Judgment that authenticated Ochudo Martin Agbaso as the chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA].

Recall that an Enugu High Court had, on 22nd, May 2017, given an order of Mandamus compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] to abide by the decision of party in recognizing Chief Martin Agbaso as the National chairman.

Elombah.com was reliably informed that police has meddled and attempted to muddle the situation by the APGA Youths chairman, Mr Chuks Nwoga.

Mr Nwoga lamented the interference of police in political matters, saying that “the police are now partisan.”

“Hiring high profile lawyers with taxpayer’s money in the case that does not concern them.

“Spending several billions of naira to hire these lawyers.

“Police are meant to obey court orders and not to challenge them.”

Earlier, our correspondent, Mazi Odera wondered “who is playing the drum behind the scene”.

He wrote that in Enugu High court, in a sneak attack which look more like lopsided sentiment, the Police went to court to vacate the Court Judgment that gave Martin Agbaso the authentic chairman of APGA .

In his words, “the curious Vibe is that Nigerian Police were represented by Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, who is known for traveling with chartered private jet and his fees will pay salary of 3 police commands put together.

“Also with Barrister Onyechi Ikpeazu another expensive Lawyer, the question becomes who is sponsoring the Police or has the police gotten enough money to waste on issue that adds nothing to the security of the nation or to the welfare of the Police .

“What has the Chairman of a party got to do with police? Their own is to follow court judgment and not to stand in hostility against any person favored by the court.

“When did Nigerian Police started hiring First Class Lawyers on a case that has no interest of and to the police ?

“If somebody is sponsoring them, does it sound like the Police are now selling integrity to highest buyer?

“The Police should stay silent and away like INEC and carry out the judgment and findings of the court and not to join in escalating political matters .

“Thanks to INEC who saw no reason in wasting scarce resources pursuing irrelevant issues that doesn’t affect them one way or another,” he concluded.

Elombah.com gathered that the court postponed the hearing to later date which was not mentioned .
