LOKOJA, KOGI STATE – The Kogi State Police Command has trained 565 newly recruited constables in weapon handling and marksmanship as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and improve public safety across the state.
The training programme focused on improving the officers’ tactical competence, discipline, and ability to respond effectively to security challenges in different parts of Kogi State.
The Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Police Force, said the exercise is part of ongoing capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing professionalism and preparedness among its personnel.
Security Capacity Strengthening
According to the command, the constables underwent intensive drills covering firearm safety, handling procedures, target practice, and operational discipline.
Officials explained that the training is designed to ensure that officers deployed to communities are adequately prepared to manage security situations with caution and precision.
They added that improving marksmanship and weapon handling skills is critical to reducing operational errors and enhancing public trust in law enforcement activities.
