Politics in Nigeria is not for the faint hearted ~ by Kamen Chuks

Events in the past few days has shown a consistent pattern plotted with the sole aim of dismembering and placing question marks on a Peter Obi aspiration that almost every enlightened person in Nigeria outside the old order embraced as the next best panacea to a country that has been mindlessly ravaged by the old order.

The plot now is to reduce/restrict the Peter Obi movement to a ploy by Ndi Igbo to attain power and use it to bring about Biafra .

First they started by trending a picture purportedly as being that of Mr Peter Obi’s son in full IPOB regalia (picture attached ) and engaged paid commentators who furiously drove the narrative of ….no wonder the Ipob/Biafran agitators have all gone Obidient !

The outing by Kwakwanso brings in the second plot along the same trajectory, a narrative of “Ndi igbo cannot be trusted because of their Monday sit-at-homes in solidarity with the agitators advocating self determination for the region ” .

Unfortunately, rather than seeing through the plot and staying focused , I read so many Obidients of Igbo extraction hurling abuses on the Northerners….. …they didn’t stop to ponder this question…..how about the many enlightened Northerners who are Obidients ?

How are they expected to feel on being lumped together with the scheming old order and castigated by their fellow Obidients from the east ?

As the months going into the Campaigns draw closer, it is expected that these politicians that constitute the old order and who are indeed masters of political intrigues will lay even more deadly booby traps on the Obidient’s pathway as a means of killing the trending political revolution .

The biggest thing that Mr Peter Obi lacks at this moment in time is a home grown party from his region .The way and manner , Alhaji Kwakwanso wrote off the labour party during the television interview is a huge pointer to that mindset from other regions .

The hard truth ( as painful as it may sound), is that Ndi Igbo needs to go back to the drawing board and study how Ahmed Tinubu patiently spent years, growing a regional negotiating political platform started as the AD which he has used effectively today to emerge the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) .

We must take note of the fact that while several other prominent Yorubas exercised their choices of not aligning with the Tinubu vision then , they also did not go to extreme levels to attack and kill that vision like we in the east are prone to do to our own.

Peter Obi for president is a collective Nigerian dream that is mostly championed by the middle class and must never be allowed to be branded an igbo man’s aspiration simplicita .

The biggest threat to this aspiration are the huge number of unlettered ( almajiri ) voters in the North with zero access to social media and under the firm control of the old order !

This was why some of us , Obediently supporting from the sidelines was praying for a collaboration from the North probably with Kwakwanso’s NNPP . Unfortunately events coming from Kwakwanso’s recent statements has shown that such a collaboration is easier to attain when you have operated as a voting block and dished out favours in the past like Tinubu did with the North . When he used the AC as a western regional power block to align with the ANPP and the CPC and wrestle power from the PDP.

That was the reason why almost the entire Northern APC Governors stood their ground, insisted that they have an existing agreement to keep and rallied round Ahmed Tinubu, even when their National party chairman announced a different consensus candidate.

At this point, we must all join hands to pray for divine intervention , as nothing they say is impossible with God.
