Pope Francis has sharply criticized the migrant deportation policies of US President Donald Trump.

He called them a “major crisis” that damages the dignity of men and women.

In a letter to US bishops, Pope Francis urged Catholics and people of good will to reject harmful narratives, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reported.

These narratives discriminate against migrants and refugees, causing unnecessary suffering.

The Pope’s criticism comes as Trump pushes forward with plans for the largest deportation campaign in US history.

Pope Francis warns this will lead to a “calamity.”

While Pope Francis acknowledged the right of nations to defend their borders, he stressed that migrants’ dignity must be upheld.

Deporting individuals fleeing extreme poverty, insecurity, and persecution is an affront to their dignity.

The Pope noted that these migrants often have no choice but to leave their homes due to life-threatening circumstances.

They flee from violence, exploitation, or environmental disaster, and deporting them places them in an even more vulnerable state.

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis has been a vocal advocate for the rights of migrants.

He continuously urges world leaders to show compassion toward those seeking refuge.

In his letter to the US bishops, Pope Francis pointed out that immigration policies must not sacrifice the well-being of others.

He argued that policies based on force, rather than the truth of equal human dignity, would inevitably fail.

Pope Francis also commended the efforts of Catholic clergy working tirelessly to support refugees and migrants.

He expressed his appreciation for their dedication to serving those in need.

The Pope urged all Catholics, as well as people of goodwill, to join this cause.

He stressed the importance of upholding the dignity of every human being, regardless of immigration status.

He emphasized resisting harmful narratives that fuel division and discrimination.

As President Trump continues to implement his vision for a revamped immigration system, Pope Francis’ message resonates.

It serves as a powerful reminder of the moral responsibility to treat the most vulnerable with care and compassion.

The Pope’s call to action contrasts with Trump’s stance, which has sparked widespread debate and concern among human rights advocates.

Pope Francis’ condemnation of the US government’s immigration policies highlights the ongoing global discussion about balancing border security and human rights.

His letter calls leaders and individuals alike to prioritize the dignity of all people, particularly the most marginalized.
