Pregnant woman abducted in Rivers returns home with flat stomach

A nine-month pregnant woman, Dorathy Opus, who was declared missing on Friday, February 7, 2025, has been found alive, but with a flat belly.

According to reports, the woman was discovered on Wednesday, February 12, around 7pm at The Young Roundabout in Port Harcourt.

She is believed to have been dumped there by her abductors who allegedly had forcibly delivered her of the baby she was carrying.

The abductors kept the baby while they returned the mother, disoriented.

Dorathy was rushed to a hospital where she is currently receiving treatment in Port Harcourt.

Her sister-in-law said Dorathy left home on Friday afternoon, with her phone, charger, and purse, telling her son she would be back soon.

She never returned, prompting family to declare her missing and mounting a massive search for her.

Neighbours reported sighting her at UPE Bus Stop, where she was waiting to board a commercial vehicle to her destination. That was the last time she was seen.

Efforts to track her failed to yield any results until some Good Samaritans sighted her where she was dumped on Wednesday.

Residents are now worried that there may be a new trend of kidnappers targeting heavily pregnant women solely for their babies.

Police are now investigating the case with a view to recovering the baby.
