President Buhari Queries IGP Idris over Elombahs’ arrests

Buhari has queried IGP Idris over the arrest of Elombah brothers, Chigbo, Daniel, Tim, Izuchukwu and two other visitors at their country home in Nnewi on Jan 1, 2018.

President Muhammadu Buhari has queried the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Kpotum Idris over the illegal arrest and detention of Elombah brothers, Chigbo, Daniel, Tim, Izuchukwu and two other visitors on January 1, 2018.

The query, conveyed through the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, and signed by the deputy chief of staff of the president, office of the vice president, Ade Ipaye, reads:

“His Excellency has asked the inspector general of police to submit his response to the petition, following which any necessary action will be taken.

“You may also wish to ensure that this office is appraised of any updates on the matter.”

Buhari has queried IGP Idris over the arrest of Elombah brothers, Chigbo, Daniel, Tim, Izuchukwu and two other visitors at their country home in Nnewi on Jan 1, 2018.

Recall that SARS operatives, under the express instruction of IGP Idris, struck the country home of the Elombahs in Nnewi, Anambra State, scaled the central gate using a ladder, and whisked away 6 family members.

Consequent upon that arrest, Tim Elombah, the Editor of Elombah.com was detained at Special Tactical Squad [STS] headquarters in Abuja for 25 days.
