Primate Ayodele is an agent of distraction — Ekete

Chukwuemeziem Ekete, the leader of the Igbo Youths in Diaspora (IYD), has faulted recent remarks by the Founder of INRI Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, who claimed that Igbo people are the problem of Nigeria.

Recall that Primate Ayodele had said that the problem of Nigeria is from the Igbo people without presenting a fact.

But Ekete in a statement on Friday, described the cleric’s remarks as “baseless and insensitive,” insisting that the comment diverts attention from the country’s real challenges

He said: “We are yet to come to terms with what Primate Ayodele said, and we have been assessing the reason he decided to make such a comment in this critical period.

“Is he trying to distract the world, and instead of pin blames on terrorists killing Christians, he decided to play bigotry. He he on ethnic vendetta at a time Christians are being killed and the world talking about Christian genocide.

“As a religious leader who believes in Jesus Christ, and seeing that all eyes have shifted on the killings of the sheep of our Lord Jesus Christ, what has ethnicity to do with the killimgs of the children of the kingdom?

“Primate Ayodele must answer the question and tell us why he is deviating from the main issue. He should be fighting for Christians. Now, their blood is speaking against the killers. He should be talking about how Christian genocide can stop and not shifting focus from it.

“We understand religious leaders can be paid to deviate from the burning issue, but we reject the antics of the prophet. We must continue to talk about the Christian genocide going on in the country”.

However, responding to what is truly the problem of Nigeria, Chukwuemeziem Ekete said that the problem of Nigeria is bad leadership and failure of Christians to get involved in politics and fight for their protection.

“Christians stay in the church while Islamists fight for political power. In turn, they use that political power to attack Christians. Primate Ayodele should rather encourage Christians to cease the political space and elect Christians.

“The problem of Nigeria is not Igbo but bad leaders and religious leaders like the Primate who would do everything to stop us from holding leaders to account”.
