Senate resolved to:

Direct the  Federal Ministry of Health and its various agencies/parastatals to work closely with the World Health Organization in order to acquire sufficient vaccines needed to respond to the outbreak and prevent further cases

Direct Federal Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies to carry out nationwide immunization of children and adults that are susceptible to the disease.

Senate also resolved that the Police, NEMA, Prisons Service et al ensure measures to prevent Meningitis outbreak in their domains.

Senate resolved that broad information dissemination on Meningitis be done by the appropriate authorities.

Senate resolved that Meningitis Vaccines be made available free of charge at all Public Hospitals across the country.

Senate President Bukola Saraki thanked the mover of the motion. He also commended the Federal Government for proactive measures on meningitis outbreak. He noted that the Senate will provide adequate funding for the Federal Ministry of Health and its parastatals.

ADJOURNMENT

Senate Leader moved that in order to allow different committees finish Legislative work on the 2017 Budget.
