Mr Aisha Yesufu, socio-political activist and Labour Party chieftain, said the anger burning in the hearts of Nigerians may lead to another protest worse than the one that took place in 2020.
Recall that in 2020, many Nigerians staged a protest calling for the disbandment of the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force for brutalising youths.
The protest, tagged #EndSARS, was started on Twitter, resulting in mass demonstrations in all major cities of the country.
While writing via her official X handle on Monday, Mrs Yesufu said Nigerians might just be taken unawares by another demonstration.
She said, “Nobody saw the #EndSARS protest coming. Nobody will see the next uprising coming.”
“Sadly, it might end up being violent. There is a simmering anger fueled by the impunity and brazenness of the corrupt politicians and rulers who have rigged their way into power. Nobody will be spared.”
