Christian youths have urged the State Assembly to impeach the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. The youths accused him of offering huge cash to Fulani herdsmen after they had reportedly killed several Christians, the youths said in a statement made available to Irohinoodua. He was also accused of sponsoring Fulani leaders for an International Fulbe Conference expected to bring Fulani ethnic groups together from about 10 countries in Africa.
The group under the aegis of Christian Association of Nigeria (Youth Wing), condemned the plan by the governor of the state to compensate Fulani Herdsmen for their lost Cattles as well as sponsoring them as delegates to meet Fulani leaders outside the country.
Since the attack on Southern Kaduna Local Government Area of the State by herdsmen, which saw over hundreds of people maim, raped, killed and rendered homeless, the Kaduna State government is yet to compensate them for their losses.
The National President of YOWICAN, Daniel Kadzai, has warn the Governor El-Rufai to stop playing politics with the killing of Christians, adding that the verbal attack on CAN president, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, by Governor El-Rufai is quite unfortunate, which further exposes the governor’s refusal to come to terms with realities for political reasons.
He added that Christians in the state will resort to self-defense anytime Fulani herdsmen attack any village within the Southern Kaduna Local Government Area of the state, because Christians have lost faith in the Government.
“Christians have lost faith in the El-Rufai government. Especially in a situation where there is complacency or complicity on the part of security operatives and politicians. We however call on Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to respect the CAN President and know that Christians have the right to self-defense”.
Governor El-Rufai had earlier claim after the attack on Christians in Southern Kaduna LGA that the Fulani terrorists killing Christians were foreigners, the Federal Government should close Nigerian borders with Chad, Cameroon, and Benin Republic without delay.
