Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodioke has opened up about a difficult period in her life, revealing the enormous financial burden she faced while dealing with a health challenge.
The actress said she was spending as much as ₦800,000 every month on medication, describing the experience as one that placed significant pressure on her finances and wellbeing.
While reflecting on the people who supported her during the period, Ronke expressed gratitude to God, members of the entertainment industry and MC Oluomo, whom she credited among those who helped her through the ordeal.
She also recalled an unexpected act of kindness from fellow actress Sotayo, despite the two women having been out of contact for several years following a disagreement.
According to Ronke, Sotayo sent her ₦150,000 after learning that she was ill.
Ronke explained that although they had not spoken for roughly five or six years, Sotayo still chose to assist her when she needed help.
Interestingly, the actress said their relationship has not returned to what it once was, noting that they can still encounter each other at social gatherings without exchanging greetings.
Despite this, Ronke said she remains appreciative of the gesture and the support she received from people around her during the challenging period.
The actress also spoke about her religious journey, revealing that she joined the Celestial Church of Christ during the time she was seriously ill.
Ronke, however, stressed that her decision was personal and said she does not condemn people who practise other religions.
Her account has highlighted not only the financial realities that can accompany prolonged health challenges but also the impact of unexpected support from people, including those with whom one may have had disagreements.
For Ronke, the experience appears to have reinforced the importance of gratitude, faith and the people who stand by someone during their most difficult moments.
