Russia issues stark warning to US over Israel support as tensions soar

UK and Europe impose more sanctions on Russia

Russia has issued a stern warning to the United States against providing direct military assistance to Israel, as the Israel-Iran conflict enters its sixth day of intense airstrikes and mounting global alarm.

Speaking on Tuesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov warned that any U.S. military involvement could “seriously destabilize the Middle East,” following reports of Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, including the sensitive Bushehr power plant.

“The situation is extremely dangerous,” Ryabkov said, “and the consequences of external military intervention would be very serious.

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s actions as violations of international law, directly accusing the country of igniting further regional instability.

Moscow urged the United States to step back, saying it risked dragging the world into an uncontrolled military confrontation.

Echoing those concerns, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed “deep concern” over what he called a potentially irreversible escalation.

Meanwhile, former President Dmitry Medvedev, now a senior national security official, went further—invoking nuclear escalation scenarios if the West deepens involvement.

“If Western nations push forward with open military support, they will bear full responsibility for what follows,” Medvedev warned on his Telegram channel.

Russia, a long-time ally of Iran, has reiterated calls for restraint and diplomacy, urging all parties to avoid actions that could spiral into a broader regional war.

However, officials in Moscow admitted their military capacity to assist Iran is limited due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Despite this constraint, Russia said it would back Iran in international forums and continue providing non-lethal strategic and diplomatic support.

“We are actively pursuing all diplomatic channels,” Ryabkov stated, “but the West must understand the stakes.”

Inside Washington, the White House has so far avoided direct combat involvement, though President Trump has authorized enhanced intelligence sharing and logistics support to Israel.

Sources suggest the Pentagon is reviewing options, including rapid deployment of defense assets to the eastern Mediterranean.

While the U.S. remains a firm ally of Israel, Russia’s warnings introduce fresh geopolitical risks—with China also calling for de-escalation and offering to mediate peace talks between Tehran and Jerusalem.

The conflict, triggered by a massive Iranian drone and missile barrage last week, has since escalated with Israeli airstrikes targeting key Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

Iran has vowed retaliation, while Hezbollah and other regional militias threaten to open new fronts.

As the crisis deepens, Russia’s warnings serve as a chilling reminder of the high-stakes nuclear and geopolitical gamble now unfolding across the Middle East—one where a single miscalculation could spark a global catastrophe.
