A renowned music executive and entrepreneur, SamFrank Abarikwu, has concluded a two-day free medical outreach for residents of Ihie Ndume community in Umuahia North Local Government Area as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare at the grassroots level.
The outreach, held on May 8 and 9, 2026, was organised through the Enyioha Foundation under the theme, “Healing Our Roots, Strengthening Our Future.”
Residents of the community, including the elderly and young people, benefited from various free healthcare services such as eye examinations, blood pressure checks, hypertension screening, medical consultations, prescription glasses, diagnosis, and distribution of drugs.
Speaking during the programme, Abarikwu said the initiative was inspired by his desire to give back to society and mark his birthday by positively impacting lives within his community.
According to him, the increasing cost of healthcare services in the country made it necessary to bring medical support directly to the people.
He explained that the outreach was aimed at improving the wellbeing of residents who may struggle to afford proper medical care and medications.
Abarikwu also clarified that the programme was purely humanitarian and not politically motivated, stressing that community development should begin from one’s immediate environment.
Beyond healthcare, he noted that the Enyioha Foundation has continued to support education and youth development in the area through several initiatives, including sponsorship of free JAMB registrations for more than 200 students and the organisation of the Unity Cup football competition to promote peace and unity among young people.
He further disclosed that the foundation donated books to the library of Ibeku High School in collaboration with a major Nigerian bookstore as part of efforts to support learning and educational growth.
The entrepreneur commended the administration of Alex Otti for ongoing infrastructural and healthcare improvements across Abia State, noting that the visible changes in the state have encouraged many indigenes to return home and contribute to development efforts.
Beneficiaries of the medical outreach expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and beneficial, particularly for elderly residents and low-income families who often struggle to access quality healthcare.
Many of them praised Abarikwu for the gesture and called on other well-meaning Nigerians to support community-focused programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
