Sanwo-Olu Enhances Security with 260 Patrol Vehicles, Technology

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently took a firm stance on ensuring the safety and security of residents.

He conveyed this commitment at the 18th Annual Security Town Hall Meeting, which focused on the theme “Data and Technology-Driven Security: The Way Forward.”

Held at the Lagos House in Ikeja, the event featured the Governor presenting 260 new patrol vehicles, communication devices, and protective gear to various security agencies—an effort to strengthen their capabilities in a thriving metropolis.

In his address, Sanwo-Olu shared his vision of a safer, more technologically advanced Lagos.

He highlighted multiple initiatives under the Security and Governance pillar of the THEMES+ Development Agenda.

The deployment of 450 intelligent surveillance cameras will integrate with the Lagos State Command and Control Centre for enhanced monitoring.

The Governor introduced a digital ID system with biometric technology; therefore, this initiative bolsters security, particularly in high-risk areas.

He highlighted the integration of drones for surveillance, traffic management, and crowd control, enhancing safety and convenience for Lagosians.

Sanwo-Olu announced a cybersecurity advisory board to protect citizens’ data and ensure safety in our increasingly digital world.

He sincerely thanked the generous donors to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and encouraged more contributions from individuals and organizations.

He firmly believes that investing in Safety measures is investing in the future prosperity of society.

The IGP praised the state government’s ongoing support, highlighting significant reductions in armed robberies and bank heists from these efforts.

Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti and AbdulRazaq Balogun acknowledged technology’s vital role in security and promised responsible management of donated resources.
