Senate President, Bukola Saraki has met with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja today.

The delegation was headed by Mr. Waheed Odusile, the National President of the organization.

In the discussion, the NUJ asked for legislative support to ensure the robust engagement of journalists in the Nigerian project.

In response, Saraki reassured the NUJ that the 8th Senate will continue to do everything possible to ensure that the freedom of the press as guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws of Nigeria continue to be upheld.

According to Mr. Saraki, “Journalists and the news media played a vital role in securing the ‘Change’ that we clamoured for during elections.

“Their work is crucial to ensuring accountable and transparent governance,” he added.
