School shooting: 15-year-old girl kills 2, injures 6, before killing self in U.S. Christian school

Another case of school shooting in Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, as a 15-year-old student, identified as Natalie Rupnow allegedly opened fire, claiming the lives of a teacher and a teenager, injuring six others, before taking her own life.
According to reports from the Associated Press, the incident occurred on Monday morning.
As gathered by the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Rupnow opened fire during a study hall.
The report said a call was put through by a second-grade student.
The Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes, verified that the condition of two injured students remains critical.
Also, he said a teacher and three other students sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with two students subsequently discharged from the hospital.
Barnes stated: “Everyone in that building, kids included, is a victim and will be dealing with this forever.”
“We need to figure out what happened.”
As at the time of this report, Rupnow’s detail about her family background is not disclosed by Barnes, who said the family are cooperating with investigators.
In response to the tragic event, President Joe Biden called upon Congress to enact legislation mandating universal background checks and a national red flag law.
The president emphasized that “senseless violence that traumatizes children, families, and ravages communities can never be accepted.”
Parent’s reactions
“In that instant, time seems to stand still,” remarked Bethany Highman, whose daughter narrowly escaped harm during the shooting.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers deemed the incident “unthinkable,” while Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway expressed her sorrow, saying she had hoped to never see the day it would come to Madison.
School shootings in the US
According to a report by CNN, a total of 83 school shootings have occurred in the United States as of December 16.
The breakdown of the school shootings revealed that 27 incidents occurred on college campuses and 56 on K-12 school premises.
Also, the examination from the Gun Violence Archive, Education Week, and Everytown for Gun Safety, revealed that these shootings have claimed the lives of 38 individuals and left a minimum of 115 others injured.
The report stated further that in the pandemic’s first year, there was a decline in school gun violence, but recent years have seen a sharp increase.
The years 2021-2024 set records for school shootings since 2008, with 2022 being particularly devastating, claiming 46 lives.
The growing concern over gun violence has prompted students and educators to take action, with some educators opting to leave the profession.
Washington, D.C. had the highest rate of school shootings, with 6 incidents, equivalent to nearly 1 per 100,000 people.
U.S school shooting in 2024
On January 4, 2024, a student was allegedly killed and four other students and three staff members were injured in Perry High School shooting.
According to report, the shooter, who later committed suicide is a 17-year-old student of the school.
On January 30, 2024, a shooting incident occurred at LeFlore Magnet High School in Mobile, Alabama, resulting in two students being injured following an altercation.
Also, on February 6, 2024, a student at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, allegedly discharged a firearm in an academic building, causing minor injuries to one student from broken glass.
A fatal shooting occurred in a dorm room at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, on February 16, 2024,
A student at Pioneer Technology and Arts Academy in Mesquite, Texas, was shot by police officers on February 19, 2024, after brandishing a firearm.
Shots were fired on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston, Illinois, on February 25, 2024, but no injuries were reported.
A student at Odessa High School in Odessa, Texas, suffered a gunshot wound to the foot in the school parking lot on February 26, 2024.
On March 11, 2024, an individual discharged a firearm through a window at the Springfield High School of Science and Technology in Springfield, Massachusetts, after gaining entry with the assistance of a student.
A confrontation between a campus police officer and an armed individual at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama, on March 18, 2024, resulted in an exchange of gunfire, injuring the gunman.
In addition, a school resource officer accidentally discharged their firearm in a bathroom at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on April 2, 2024.
A student at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, suffered gunshot wounds in a dorm building on April 2, 2024, leading to charges against three other students.
A targeted shooting occurred at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Texas, on April 12, 2024, resulting in the injury of one student.
One person was killed and 16 others were injured in a shooting at Tuskegee University’s homecoming event in Tuskegee, Alabama, on November 10, 2024.
A gunman attacked a school in Palermo, California, on December 4, 2024, killing himself and critically injuring two kindergarten students.
Recently, there was shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on December 16, 2024, which left three people dead and seven others hurt.
