ABUJA, Nigeria — Former Bayelsa State Governor and senior figure in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has called on party stakeholders to maintain discipline and unity, warning against actions that could damage the image of party members or undermine internal cohesion.

Dickson made the remarks during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, where party leaders gathered to review internal developments and strengthen coordination ahead of upcoming political activities. He stressed the importance of unity among members, noting that the party’s success depends on collective responsibility and mutual respect among its leadership and supporters.

The NDC leader expressed concern over what he described as increasing internal criticism and negative narratives being circulated about the party and its members. He urged leaders at all levels to take responsibility for guiding their supporters and preventing actions that could portray the party in a negative light.

According to him, the party must remain focused on its broader political objectives rather than internal disputes or public disagreements that could weaken its standing. He emphasized that political parties thrive on discipline and cohesion, especially during periods of transition and preparation for general elections.

Dickson also reiterated the importance of trust among party stakeholders, stating that the NDC was built on a foundation of collaboration and shared ambition. He noted that all members, including key political actors and candidates, should be supported collectively as the party works toward presenting a unified front in future elections.

He further stated that the party had made significant sacrifices to accommodate new entrants and ensure inclusiveness within its structure, adding that such efforts should not be undermined by internal conflicts or reputation-damaging conduct.
