A certain Akan Akpan, now alleged to be a serial robber and fraudster, has been nabbed by the Nigeria Police for fraudulently dispossessing a Point of Sales (POS) Agent of the sum of 50,000 Naira (about $31 US Dollars) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Southern Nigeria.

The incident which occured over the weekend, has since gone viral even as other alleged victims of the suspect throng the Akwa Ibom State Police Command headquarters to testify against him.

Last Friday, when he was caught, he had used fake credit transfer to trick a female POS agent into handing over the said sum of money to him.

When the raised raised alarm, the suspect zoomed off in his car but was given a hot chase and caught by some good Samaritans.

An eyewitness, Mr Gabriel Akpan, narrated the incident on social networking site, Facebook:

“Myself and my friends in the car just caught this guy below for giving a POS agent along Nsikak Eduok lane by House of Assembly Road, a fake transfer, and disappeared with 50,000 Naira.

“We were in a car around and we pursued him in his car when an alarm was raised. He ran through the Banking Layout, turning us around in a James Bond manner until he was caught up by Aka Etinan One Way.

“We wanted giving him a native treatment, until the Police took over. We learnt he had done that to another POS agent in Mechanic Village last week. God knows how many agents have been duped by him so far.

“For now, he is begging profusely while we left him with the police at the spot of the fake transfer.”
