Shettima: Nigerians will benefit from current Challenges

Vice-President Kashim Shettima asserts that Nigerians will gain from the current administration’s policies.

He describes these policies as essential steps toward creating a more prosperous nation.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja, he participated in a national conference aimed at strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

This event was organized by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development.

Represented by his special adviser on political matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Shettima acknowledged the hardships citizens face.

However, he assured them that the government remains dedicated to long-term objectives.

“I assure Nigerians that our administration recognizes many concerns regarding our direction and goals,” he stated.

He emphasized the difficulties arising from some policies but remained optimistic about their necessity.

The vice president highlighted the government’s commitment to correcting economic flaws and enhancing citizen security.

He admitted that transitioning from a troubled past to a hopeful future comes at a cost.

Furthermore, he promised to focus on alleviating citizens’ suffering while maintaining sight of their goals.

“We will listen and adjust as needed, ensuring accountability in our democratic processes,” he added.

He believes the nation will realize its potential and become a key player on the global stage.

He affirmed that democracy, while imperfect, is still the best form of governance.

“Democracy is often seen as flawed, yet it surpasses all other systems,” he remarked.

The administration seeks to showcase the value of democracy by not only tackling economic weaknesses but also by ensuring community security and advocating for fair elections.

Shettima urged Nigerians to join in this challenging yet rewarding journey.

He emphasized that elections should go beyond mere voting and foster transparent, accountable governance.

He noted the importance of enhancing the democratic system’s quality and core components.

Shettima reminded elected leaders of their responsibility to promote democracy through good governance and respect for citizens.

We owe our positions to the democratic process; therefore, we must ensure its effectiveness, he said.

Most importantly, Nigerian democracy should mean more than voting every four years, he insisted.

He stressed that leaders should serve the people’s interests transparently and protect their assets.

The best leaders prioritize the welfare of their citizens.

They must create laws that align with citizens’ economic security and ensure judicial independence and integrity.
