Shettima travels to Dubai to launch $315 million oil facility

Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Friday, to launch the 315m oil facility in Dubai.

As gathered by the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Shettima embarked on the journey to represent President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning and naming of a $315 million oil production and storage facility.

According to a report, Oriental Energy Limited, a fully Nigerian-owned oil and gas company, is set to commission its newly acquired facility tomorrow, Saturday, December 14, 2024.

On a similar note, Shettima is slated to engage in a bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah on December 20, 2024.

However, the VP is expected to return to Nigeria on or before December 21, 2024.

Early Life and Education of Shettima

Shettima was born on September 2, 1966, in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.

He pursued a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Maiduguri and subsequently earned a master’s degree in International Relations from the same institution.

Shettima’s Political Career

Shettima embarked on his political journey in the early 2000s.

He initially served as a commissioner in the Borno State government.

The vice president later contested and won the gubernatorial election in 2011.

Subsequently, he secured re-election for a second term in 2015.

Vice Presidential Candidacy

In 2022, Kashim was chosen by Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as his running mate for the 2023 Nigerian presidential election.

Tenure as Governor

As Governor of Borno State, Shettima faced numerous challenges, notably the Boko Haram insurgency.
