Liverpool FC head coach, Arne Slot

Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot is on the verge of making history as he closes in on winning the Premier League in his debut season.

His side currently sits on top of the table with 67 points, a whooping thirteen points above second placed Arsenal.

If he secures the title, he will join an exclusive group of managers who have achieved this rare feat, cementing his place among the elite in English football.

Only four managers have won the Premier League in their first season: Carlo Ancelotti with Chelsea in 2009/10, Manuel Pellegrini with Manchester City in 2013/14, Antonio Conte with Chelsea in 2016/17, and José Mourinho with Chelsea in 2004/05.

Now, Slot is poised to become the fifth.

Taking over from Jürgen Klopp, one of Liverpool’s most successful managers, was no easy task.

Yet Slot has risen to the challenge, implementing his high-intensity, possession-based style while maintaining the winning mentality Klopp instilled.

Under his guidance, Liverpool have dominated the league, with key players like Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis McAllister, Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold and others thriving in his system.

With just a few games left in the 2024/25 season, Liverpool sit comfortably at the top of the table.

Their consistency, tactical flexibility, and ability to grind out results have set them apart from rivals Manchester City and Arsenal, who have stumbled at critical moments.

Slot’s potential achievement is even more remarkable given the pressure of managing a club of Liverpool’s stature and the expectations that come with following in Klopp’s footsteps.

His quick adaptation to the Premier League, tactical innovation, and man-management skills have been nothing short of exceptional.

The footballing world is watching as history unfolds, and Arne Slot stands on the brink of joining an exclusive club of Premier League legends.

Slot’s career file

Born on September 17, 1978, in Bergentheim, Netherlands, Slot began his playing career as a midfielder, making over 400 appearances for various Dutch clubs, including PEC Zwolle.

After retiring as a player in 2013, Slot transitioned into coaching, starting as a youth coach at PEC Zwolle.

He later became the manager of Cambuur in 2016 and then joined AZ Alkmaar as an assistant manager in 2017.

Slot became the head coach of AZ Alkmaar in 2019, leading the team to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie.

In 2021, Slot joined Feyenoord, where he achieved significant success, winning the Eredivisie title in 2022-23 and the KNVB Cup in 2023-24.
