Sports commission boss commends Super Eagles iconic mascot at AFCON
Coach Bola Mogaji, Nigeria’s squash legend and executive chairman, Kwara Sports Commission, KSC, has observed that team mascots achieved a new status after the exploits of Bashir Hammed at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Ahmed is a member of the Super Eagles supporters club and chief mascot of the Kwara United Football Club.
At the continental fiesta where Nigeria picked silver after a nail biting encounter with host nation in Abidjan, Ahmed, known more as Arabambi was a key interest for panning TV cameras anywhere Nigeria played in the West African country.
“I believe that you have changed the face of soccer and sports followership in stadium.
“You have made Kwara and Nigeria proud,” Coach Magaji told Arabambi on Tuesday when the mascot showed up to present a Super Eagles supporters jersey to thecommission boss as souvenir.
Speaking to DDM, Arabambi explained that traveling to Abidjan to support the Super Eagles is a duty that he feels must be done.
He extend gratitude to the state governor, Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq who has shown support and mentorship for sports in the state.
Arabambi, earlier in the year made national headlines and theme of social media buzz when he was captured after collapsing at the league match loss of Kwara United on home turf to Lobi Star by 0-2.
