Stop to dey distract Tinubu, Arewa Think Tank tell IMF, World Bank

One Northern group, Arewa Think Tank (ATT), don warn officials of di International Monetary Fund (IMF) and di World Bank to stop to dey distract President Bola Tinubu from implementing good policies for Naija citizens, say IMF policies don fail to transform Naija economy for di beta over di years.

For statement on Wednesday, di convener of ATT, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, note say di IMF dey try to discourage President Tinubu from ensuring say di pipo of Naija enjoy dividends of democracy sooner rather than later.

“We wan condemn IMF in all ramifications.”

“We wan remind dem say if dem no fit pay us in di good coins for di 70s wey Naija borrow dem money, dem suppose leave us alone.”

“If you see di IMF dey talk say Naija dey work, e mean say di country dey work against its citizens.”

Naija no suppose take dis IMF pipo seriously.

Na because dem don notice say President Tinubu policies dey work seriously, and na why dem wan discourage am and distract am.

“We agree with di former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Naija former Permanent Representative to di United Nations, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, wey don talk say years of economic prescriptions from di International Monetary Fund (IMF) and di World Bank don fail to transform Naija economy for di beta.

“We fit recall say for di 1970s, Naija borrow IMF money. If di economic policies of di IMF and World Bank don dey effective, Naija for dey live more prosperously today.

“In all honesty, where all di prescriptions of di IMF and di World Bank over di years don carry Naija go?

“E time make we define our problems and design ways to solve dem.

If di IMF and World Bank prescriptions don dey correct, we suppose dey live happily today, but we no dey.

To make mata worse, di world itself dey change, and di international community dey evolve; global relationships and norms dey shift.

“We also wan recall say for di 1980s, di Naija military government reject IMF and World Bank prescriptions.

Naija and Africa as whole suppose define dia problems and develop dia institutions and forget about di IMF long time ago.

“In dis regard, dis na high time wey di African continent go begin to dey strengthen African institutions such as di African Union (AU), di Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and di African Development Bank (AfDB).

“We fit see say under di Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, di politics, oil and gas, business, economy, women, youth, and di environment dey thrive without di support of di International Monetary Fund and di World Bank.

“Arewa Think Tank dey appeal therefore to President Tinubu make e no allow IMF pressure to distract am from implementing good policies for di pipo of our great country, Naija.” Di statement talk.
