As the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations enters the knockout stage, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are poised for a thrilling encounter against Cameroon in the round-of-16 clash on Saturday.

The much-anticipated showdown promises to be a spectacle, with both teams eyeing a coveted spot in the quarterfinals.

In the final training session leading up to this crucial match, all 25 Nigerian players showcased their readiness, forming a formidable lineup for the coaching staff to strategize with.

The positive news resonates from key players’ fitness reports, with Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, and Zaidu Sanusi declared fit despite initial concerns surrounding their availability due to injuries.

Troost-Ekong, who was absent in Nigeria’s last game against Guinea-Bissau, has fully recovered and rejoined the squad, reinforcing the defensive line alongside Kenneth Omeruo.

Leicester City’s Iheanacho has overcome his injury setback, enhancing Nigeria’s attacking options for the upcoming clash.

Alhassan Yusuf, who impressed in his debut but was sidelined for two games due to injury against Equatorial Guinea, has received the green light.

Additionally, Porto defender Sanusi, absent from the starting lineup against Guinea-Bissau, has resumed training, adding depth to Nigeria’s defensive setup.

With a roster of star players firing on all cylinders, Nigeria appears well-equipped to face Cameroon in what football legend Segun Odegbami has aptly termed a ‘war’ on the pitch.

Adding intrigue to the matchup, the Super Eagles boast an impressive record against the Indomitable Lions, having emerged victorious in their last four competitive encounters.

The epic showdown between Nigeria and Cameroon is scheduled for Saturday, 27th January 2024, at 21:00 WAT (9:00 pm Nigerian Time) at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
