Super Falcons beat Lionesses of Cameroon, qualify for 2023 Women’s World Cup

The Nigeria’s Female Football team, the Super Falcons, have defeated the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon to qualify for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

The World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand consecutively.

Their qualification came after the Falcons defeated Cameroon 0-1 in the semifinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) going on in Morocco.

The win makes it the 12th consecutive semifinal which also guaranteed their ninth Women’s World Cup ticket in a row.

Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade struck in the fifty-sixth minute to hand the Falcon are hard win.

Ajibade came with the deciding goal as the Super Falcons beat the Lionesses to book their place in the semis.

The win also means they have secured World Cup qualification.

They have won the WAFCON nine times, and now aim to become the first team to win it ten times.

Meanwhile, South Africa beat Tunisia 1 – 0 to qualify for the championship.
