The convenor of the Igbo-Biafran Nationalist Movement, Mazi Uche-Mefor, has accused the Supreme Court of Nigeria of solidifying the culture of injustice by affirming President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the disputed presidential election in February.
The apex court headed by Justice Okoro in its judgement struck out the appeals lodged by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Mr Peter Obi for lacking merit.
But Mefor while reacting to the latest judgement, said that the Supreme court has succeeded in legalising illegality and by extension promoting a state of anarchy.
He said, “It has long been acknowledged that Nigeria suffers from a lack of law and order, but now more than ever, the country’s Supreme Court is solidifying this questionable culture of injustice.
“By delivering its verdict on the recently concluded Presidential Election, the court is effectively legitimising/legalising illegality and, by extension, promoting a state of anarchy.
“The court’s message to the populace is unambiguous: individuals are free to act as they act as they wish and to interpret the law in a manner that suits their personal biases and enforce it in the event of opposition.”
