Armed bandits attacked a mining site in Niger State’s Karaga Village on February 26, killing ten and injuring one.
After communication delays, authorities confirmed the incident on March 2.
Witnesses reported assailants arriving on motorcycles, firing indiscriminately before targeting workers and residents.
Victims, aged 21 to 40, included nine men and one woman: Lurwsnu Saidu (32), Zubairu Ibrahim (27), Tasiu Danlami (31), Zanaidu Ibrahim (36), Haliru Ibrahim (33), Abbas Abdulhamid (40), Uzairu Ibrahim (32), Umaru Aliyu (22), Dahiru Fadama (29), and Alheri Gambo (21).
Sabiu Yakubu, 25, survived a gunshot wound to his hand and is now recovering at Erena Comprehensive Health Centre.
Medical personnel have described his condition as stable.
Local intelligence sources have linked the attack to a terrorist network operating within Shiroro LGA.
In recent months, this region has faced repeated assaults on mining sites, villages, and security personnel, raising security concerns.
