Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have abducted a man identified as Yusuf Bazamfare and set fire to a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost, a brothel, and a residential building during an attack on Tsamiya community in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack occurred on Saturday night and threw residents into panic as the gunmen reportedly fired sporadically before carrying out the destruction.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said the attackers invaded the community, razed a makeshift NSCDC checkpoint, a local brothel, and the home of one Sule Mai Goge.
He added that Yusuf Bazamfare was kidnapped during the assault.
Following the attack, the Commissioner of Police ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to the area to strengthen security and protect lives and property.
According to the police, a joint operation involving security agencies has already commenced to rescue the abducted victim and track down those behind the attack.
“The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have intensified operations aimed at rescuing the kidnapped victim and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” the command said.
Residents were urged to remain calm and continue sharing credible information with security agencies to support ongoing efforts to tackle criminal activities in the area.
